Broedvogel in de AWD
Het eerst bekende broedgeval van de wespendief in de AWD werd gerapporteerd in 2010. Gepubliceerd in het jaarverslag 2010 van de stichting 'Vogelringstation AWduinen'. Het broedgeval is vastgesteld in de jaarlijkse systematische telling van broedende roofvogels in de AWD, die reeds vanaf het begin van de zestiger jaren wordt gemaakt.
Een zeer bijzonder nieuw broedgeval dus dat gelukkig herhaling heeft gekregen. Het (vermoedelijk) zelfde paar heeft in de afgelopen 7 jaar al 5 broedsels gehad, waarvan in totaal 8 jongen zijn geringd en uitgevlogen. In de jaren 2012 en 2013 is er in deze jaarlijkse telling geen wespendief territorium/nest gevonden. Toen heeft het paar dus aannemelijk niet in de AWD gebroed.
Breeding bird in the AWD
Breeding by a honey-buzzard in the AWD was first reported in 2010. The data are published in the annual account of the foundation 'Vogelringstation AWduinen'. This breeding case was discovered as part of the annual count of breeding birds of prey in the AWD. An inventarisation which is conducted already since the early sixtees.
A unique breeding occurrence which fortunately has repeated itself. In the past 7 years the (supposedly same) breeding pair has returned 5 times, and 8 young in total were ringed and have flown out. In 2012 and 2013 the counting did not find a territorium/nest and it is assumed that the pair did not breed in the AWD those two years.
